Fran Meets a Toad

Fran and the Funny Toad

One sunny morning, Fran was playing in her garden when she spotted something hopping near the bushes. She hurried over to see what it was and found a big, bumpy toad. It looked so funny with its bulging eyes and warty skin. Fran giggled and said, 'Hello, little toad! You're so cute.' The toad blinked at her and hopped closer. Fran knew she wanted to keep the toad as her pet.

Fran carefully picked up the toad and carried it to her room. She found a cozy box with holes for air and made a soft bed of leaves for the toad. She named him Mr. Hoppy. Fran spent the whole day reading about toads and how to take care of them. She learned that toads like to eat bugs and have a little pool of water to swim in. Fran was excited to take care of her new friend.

Fran asked her parents for help to make a perfect home for Mr. Hoppy. They all worked together to create a small pond in the garden, filled with clear water and some rocks for Mr. Hoppy to sit on. Fran's dad built a little shelter to protect Mr. Hoppy from the hot sun and rain. Fran was thrilled to see how happy Mr. Hoppy was in his new home.

Every day, Fran went on a bug hunt to find delicious treats for Mr. Hoppy. She caught some juicy flies and wiggly worms, which made Mr. Hoppy leap with joy. Fran also made sure to change the water in Mr. Hoppy's pond and clean his cozy box. She loved taking care of her toad and seeing him happy.

One evening, as Fran was reading a story to Mr. Hoppy, she heard a strange sound. It was Mr. Hoppy making a funny noise. Fran laughed as she watched him puff up his throat and make a deep croaking sound. 'You're so silly, Mr. Hoppy!' she said, giggling. Mr. Hoppy's funny tricks always made Fran smile.

One stormy night, there was a loud clap of thunder. Fran was worried about Mr. Hoppy being scared. She rushed to the garden and saw that Mr. Hoppy was shivering in his shelter. Fran gently picked him up and brought him inside, where it was warm and cozy. She sang a soft lullaby, and soon Mr. Hoppy felt safe and fell asleep.
6
As time passed, Fran and Mr. Hoppy became the best of friends. They played games together, and Mr. Hoppy even let Fran stroke his bumpy skin. Fran was always kind and gentle with Mr. Hoppy, and he trusted her completely. They were a perfect team, and Fran was so happy to have such a wonderful pet.
7
One day, as Fran and Mr. Hoppy were enjoying the sunshine, they had a surprise visitor. It was a colorful butterfly fluttering around the garden. Fran and Mr. Hoppy watched in amazement as the butterfly danced in the air. Fran felt so lucky to share this beautiful moment with her toad and the lovely butterfly.

One bright morning, Fran woke up to find Mr. Hoppy looking very still. She was worried and called her parents. They quickly took Mr. Hoppy to the vet. The vet gave Mr. Hoppy some medicine, and soon he was feeling much better. Fran was so relieved and happy to have her dear friend healthy again.
9
From that day on, Fran continued to take wonderful care of Mr. Hoppy. They had many more fun adventures together, and Mr. Hoppy always made Fran laugh with his funny tricks. Fran was grateful for her toad and knew that they would always be the best of friends.
