Lily's Way
Lily and the Magic Words
5
Miss Rosa found Lily sitting alone on a bench. "Sam won't play with me," Lily explained sadly. "How does it feel when someone doesn't listen to you?" Miss Rosa asked. Lily thought for a moment and whispered, "It feels bad."
6
"There are special words that help people feel respected," said Miss Rosa. "'Please' shows you're asking nicely, and 'thank you' shows you're grateful." Lily's eyes widened as she realized what she had been forgetting.
7
The next day, Lily took a deep breath before speaking. "May I please have the blue crayon?" she asked Sam carefully. When Sam handed it to her, Lily smiled and said, "Thank you!" Sam's face lit up with surprise.
8
During lunch, Lily sat next to Sam with a nervous feeling. "I'm sorry I didn't say thank you for your book yesterday," Lily said softly. "It was a really good story and I appreciate you sharing it with me."
9
Sam smiled at Lily's apology. "Would you like to read another book with me today, please?" Sam asked. "Yes, please! I would love that," replied Lily, and both girls giggled together.
10
Lily noticed how people smiled when she used her magic words. Miss Rosa gave her a special sticker when she said "thank you" for snack time. Even the lunch lady seemed happier when Lily said "please" while asking for milk.
11
Weeks later, Miss Rosa watched proudly as Lily helped a new student learn the magic words. "Please and thank you are like magic," Lily explained. "They make everyone feel good inside." Lily had discovered that the real magic was in how these simple words could build friendship and respect.
