Singing or Dancing

Sydney and John were playing at the playground. John started singing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.' Sydney was amazed by his beautiful voice. She asked John how he sang so well. John suggested that she could practice too.

Sydney returned home with a new goal. She wanted to sing just like John. She sang 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' over and over. She hoped her voice would become beautiful too. Her determination made her happy.

Sydney practiced singing all day long. Her voice grew tired and so did she. She lay down in bed, exhausted. Her throat was a bit sore. But she dreamed of singing beautifully.

Sydney's mom noticed she was tired. She asked Sydney why she looked so sleepy. Sydney explained she had been practicing singing like John. She admired his voice very much. Mommy listened carefully.

Mommy smiled at Sydney. She said Sydney didn’t need to be like John to be amazing. Everyone has their own special talents. Sydney thought about what her mom said. Her mom's words made her feel better.

Sydney remembered she loved to dance. Dancing made her feel free and happy. She didn't need to sing like John. Her dancing was special too. Sydney felt proud of her talent.

The next day, Sydney and John played again. Sydney showed John her dance moves. John clapped and cheered for her. He thought her dancing was amazing. Sydney felt happy and confident.

Sydney and John celebrated their talents together. John sang while Sydney danced. They realized everyone is unique in their own way. Sydney learned she didn’t have to imitate anyone. Being herself was the best talent of all.
