Our Kindergarten class is learning how to deal with big emotions. When they are feeling overwhelmed by big emotions they should tell an adult they need a break, how we can help them or what is making them feel that way. We want to help them understand their feeling so that they will be able to learn to self-regulate. We encourage deep breathing, breaks, walks, alone time and telling adults how they feel.

Meanwhile, Boo finds himself always alone, with no one to play with, which leaves him feeling lonely and despondent. It dawns on him that he is unliked and completely isolated. One day, Clappy sees Boo sitting by himself, looking sad. Clappy doesn’t like what he sees and goes to Boo, asking why he is sitting all alone. Boo replies, “It’s because no one wants to play with me. Nobody seems to like me.” Clappy hears what Boo says and replies, “Dear brother, I have some advice for you. You need to try to be good to others. Try sharing your things. Try to help others. Try to be kind.” Boo heeds his brother's advice but chooses not to act on it. His perspective is, "My toys belong to me alone, and I have no intention of sharing them with anyone." Boo is unwilling to take the high road and be generous in sharing his possessions. John Jr and Jade wanted more information about selflessness after reading the verse 1 Corinthians 13: "Selflessness is loving others, being patient and kind, and not being envious or rude." John Jr knew Jesus was showed selflessness. They knew that love Jrsus showed others sought nothing in return; he gave his time and energy freely to anyone who asked for it and plenty that didn't; he even humbled himself to the point of washing his friends' feet 2. John Jr and Jade thought of ways to be more selfless. They were going to try to Donate, Volunteer, Serve others: Compliment instead of criticize:, Empathize with others, and Practice active listening:. 3. John Jr and Jade reflected on the verse In Philippians 2:3-4 "Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." The remembered Jesus teaching the principles of cultivating humility, putting love into action, serving others, actively listening, practicing empathy, giving freely, forgiving, praying for selflessness, and seeking accountability,. John Jr and Jade had a desire to be more like Jesus and started being more selfless in their lives.
