Whiskers the Cat stretched languidly. Today was his birthday! He awoke extra early, hoping for a surprise. But the kitchen was quiet. Mama Cat was busy humming a tuneless song, and Papa Cat was already snoring softly by the fireplace. Little sister, Pip, was engrossed in a game of peek-a-boo with her favorite stuffed mouse.
