Third birthday shared with daddy's siblings, marked by joy and 3 special toys. Fourth birthday embraced the Toy Story theme, filled with friends, a clown, and an abundance of toys. Our Kindergarten class is learning how to deal with big emotions. When they are feeling overwhelmed by big emotions they should tell an adult they need a break, how we can help them or what is making them feel that way. We want to help them understand their feeling so that they will be able to learn to self-regulate. We encourage deep breathing, breaks, walks, alone time and telling adults how they feel.

The story is about how little kids are always dismissed about having a smart idea because they're just kids or if there's ever someone in trouble or danger there's always this need to have an adult, usually a male, come in and save the day. Well, in this story, a dolphin is choking on a beach ball in the ocean near the beach and the lifeguards try and pull the ball out of his mouth, and the firefighters get called in and they try and do something to help get it out and still nothing and everyone is starting to run out of ideas and that's when this 5 year old boy named Landon steps up and says something like "maybe I can help" and so using his smaller toddler sized hands, is able to reach in just right and wiggle the ball free and save the day.

Nate now had a name for his troubles called ADHD, he got a special plan at school and he wasn't just having trouble with inattention, he has impulsivity too. without intention he would disrupt the class by fidgeting, moving around and leaving his seat. he would run when you are supposed to walk, and he sometimes talked too much or interrupt people, or blurt out an answer without being asked. He had a hard time playing quietly and waiting his turn. the special strategies sometimes weren't enough so the doctor prescribed him some medication to help calm his body and focus. with supports, love and a special plan he was able to pass his grade and graduate.
